EXPECTATIONS OF TEENAGE CONFIRMATION CANDIDATES:
A CANDIDATE MUST:
-
Make a personal choice to enter the Programme and make a commitment to participate willingly,
-
Regularly attend the sessions for about one and a half years:
on Sunday mornings during the school terms, and attend a minimum of 80%
(Unless required to attend more) of the sessions and if absent must inform a Team Member

Bring to every session: a Bible, an exercise book (journal) and a pen
-
Attend Mass with their Catholic parent/s every Weekend/Sunday, including school holidays and Holy Days of Obligation.

Attend, together with their parents and sponsors, the various liturgical celebrations to be held during weekend Masses - these are part of the process of initiation and the sponsors recommend their candidates to the parish community.

Attend a the Retreat(s) as per Programme,

Be involved in service to the Parish Community, e.g. by visiting the sick/the aged/the lonely, being an altar server, a minister of hospitality at the church entrance, being a reader at Mass, etc..

Prepare sincerely and seriously for the Celebration of the Sacrament of Confirmation, to be celebrated about the middle of next year, (Normally PENTECOST SUNDAY) which requires a commitment to practice as a Catholic for the rest of his/her life.
EXPECTATIONS OF CANDIDATES DURING SESSIONS

Arrive at least 5 minutes before the start of the Session and remain until the end of session.

No talking while member of the team or others are sharing with the whole group.

No sending of notes to other candidates.

Cell phones are to be switched off.

No leaving the room unnecessarily or going to the toilet, unless sick or for urgent matters, and only with the express permission of a Team Member

Participate and share on questions given during small group discussions.

Keep Journal up-to-date with personal reflections and handouts, and bring it to every session. These will be collected once a term to be shown to Father.

Co-operate willingly and enthusiastically with the team and Father, in order to grow in understanding and knowledge of the Catholic Faith, throughout the Confirmation Programme.
UNDERTAKING OF CANDIDATE (as on Registration form)
I would like to enrol as a candidate for the SACRAMENT OF CONFIRMATION and the decision to be Confirmed in my Catholic Faith is a personal one made by myself after careful thought and prayer. I further commit myself to follow the Confirmation Programme faithfully.
